Gardens-Colour Nothing excites the emotions so strongly as colour. The hues of the spectrum are all important in themselves, but how they are used inconjuction with each other needs very careful consideration. In the realm of gardening, the discussion can never limit itself to abstract theory, because plants are such endlessely changing organisms. There is almost always a background of green foliage stems, which neutralizes flower colours and is an additional consideration when predicting the outcome of colour combination. where planting is naturalistic, flower colour, thought still important , plays a quiter role than in traditional bedding schemes where floweres are massed for drama. the boldest statements come from using complementary colours.
